JOB TITLE: Coordinator-Accounting SPED

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Special Education

WAGE: Exempt

PAY GRADE:  AM 3

 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

The Coordinator-Accounting provides support to financial functions; conveying and updating fiscal information, and ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and fiscal practices are followed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university
  • 3 years accounting or job related experience

 

Preferred:

  • 5+ years job related experience

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

 

  • Ability to use computers and accounting applications, and apply accounting practices
  • Maintain records
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Implements reporting procedures and internal controls for the purpose of maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintains various fiscal information, files and records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
  • Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Processes fiscal information for the purpose of updating information, authorizing final action and complying with accounting requirements.
  • Reconciles budget account balances for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and complying with related policies, practices and/or regulations.
  • Submits requests for payments for contract employers for purpose of paying said employees in a timely manner.
  • Releases P.O. for payment.
  • Submits federal eGrant
  • Monitors and reconciles IDEA-B budget.
  • Prepares and maintains records required by federal, state or local laws/regulations.
  • Prepares SHARS and MAC cost reports.
  • Maintains department staff’s daily attendance records and substitute records.
  • Monitors employee leave status.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • All other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:  physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling , reaching/repetitive hand motions, and the ability to work with frequent interruptions. Mental demands: Ability to maintain emotional control under stress; ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication. Travel within the district as required.
