JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE: Accounting Coordinator Athletics

 

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

 

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

 

PAY GRADE: Para 7

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

The Accounting Coordinator for the Athletic Department is responsible for providing support to financial functions; conveying and updating fiscal information; and ensuring that revenues are generated; expenses are within budget limits and fiscal practices area followed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Required:

  • High School Graduate from an accredited institution

Preferred:

  • Five years job related experience

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Ability to use computers and accounting applications,
  • Maintain records
  • Apply basic accounting practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Coordinates football season ticket sales for the purpose of maintaining an accurate accounting of tickets sold and money received
  • Implements reporting procedures and internal controls for the purpose of maintaining accurate records
  • Maintains various fiscal information, files and records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance
  • Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed
  • Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information
  • Processes various fiscal information for the purpose of updating information, authorizing final action and complying with accounting requirements
  • Reconciles account balances for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and complying with related policies, practices and/or regulations
  • Processes warehouse and purchase orders for the purpose of supplying schools with supplies
  • Prepares cash deposits from school activities for the purpose of making bank deposits
  • Process contract and classified payroll, supplemental pay and maintains personnel files
  • Arranges for paramedics at varsity football games and ticket sellers for high school athletics events (volleyball, sub-varsity, basketball, soccer, baseball and softball)
  • Approves summer camps flyers, payroll and purchase orders
  • Arranges travel for head coaches, teams (playoffs-meals, money/hotels)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: ability to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment efficiently and effectively with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress. Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Overtime is required as necessary.
