JOB TITLE: Instructional Specialist
REPORTS TO: Campus Principal
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
PAY GRADE: AI2, Eligible for Teacher Incentive Allotment Compensation
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Instructional Specialist is responsible for providing direct instruction and instructional support to students with identified deficits in reading or mathematics. The Instructional Specialist will also provide content specific coaching to teachers as a part of the continuous cycle of campus feedback and support.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
- Standard Texas teaching certificate
Preferred:
- Three years experience of successful teaching
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Excellent motivational skills with teachers and students
- Experience in coaching and modeling for teachers
- Knowledge of core curriculum and instruction
- Knowledge of district intervention programs
- Ability to evaluate student progress
- Ability to model and provide instructional implementation assistance
- Flexible and patient with teachers and students
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instruction:
- Provide direct instruction for at-risk students.
- Provide academic intervention, support, and monitoring of at-risk students.
- Planning and implementation of effective instruction.
- Analyze student data to identify trends and areas of improvement in instruction.
- Lead and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to contribute to school-wide instructional improvement efforts.
- Monitor the academic progress of identified students engaged in academic interventions.
Coaching:
- Model, coach, and collaborate with teachers using effective instructional strategies.
- Attend and provide district-level professional development to stay abreast of best practices.
- Support teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Maintain on-going communication with classroom teachers and administrators regarding student progress.
- Participate and collaborate with the Instructional Leadership team on teaching and learning practices.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to apply knowledge of current educational research and theory, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
